Ineka T Whiteman

Ineka is Head of Research and Medical Affairs for the Batten Disease Support and Research Association (BDSRA) Australia and the BDSRA Foundation (USA). She also serves as Program Lead for the US-based Batten Disease Clinical Centers of Excellence Program, Director of the Batten Disease Global Research Initiative, and Principal Scientific Consultant to the Beyond Batten Disease Foundation. An internationally trained neuroscientist with a PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney, Ineka’s academic work—conducted across the University of Sydney, Oxford University, and Colorado State University—focused on the molecular biology of Alzheimer’s disease. Beyond academia, she has served as an advisor within the Australian Federal Government and held senior Medical Affairs roles in one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. Combining deep scientific expertise with patient-centered, real-world experience, Ineka brings a passionate, collaborative, and mission-driven approach to advancing Batten disease research and clinical care worldwide.
